This section sets out the requirements for platforms and raised floors, including responsibility for provision, access to floor service chests, edge treatment and risk assessment requirements.

Purpose of platforms and raised floors

A platform or raised floor may be required to accommodate the installation of services such as power, water or compressed air.

It is the responsibility of the Exhibitor to provide any platform or raised floor that is deemed necessary.

Any floor service chests located within the Exhibitor's stand space must remain accessible at all times.

Design requirements

Open corners of stand floors, platforms and raised floors should be splayed, rounded or angled, unless protected by heavy exhibits, in order to minimise sharp corners and trip hazards.

All edges and corners must be rounded. Sharp-cornered angles are not permitted.

Exhibitors should also take into consideration the height and positioning of exhibits, counters and screens when designing their stand.

Risk assessment and safety measures

Platform and raised floor edges must be fully highlighted.

The use of platforms and raised floors must be included within the stand risk assessment.

Where ramps are required, exhibitors must comply with the requirements set out in the Ramps - Disabled Access regulation.
