Rules & Regulations

Some exhibition spaces contain pillars within the stand perimeter. These pillars may be decorated in accordance with the permitted regulations. All connection boxes and fire equipment located on pillars must remain accessible at all times.

Pillar Cladding Requirements

Coverings must not be applied directly to a pillar and should be separated from the pillar by an empty space or a soft material, such as felt or insulation. The cladding must remain flush against the pillar to minimise its impact on the public gangway and must not extend more than 100 mm beyond the pillar footprint.

Any damage to the pillar will be charged to the exhibitor.

Cladding must be installed by the exhibitor's stand builder in accordance with the rules set out in this manual.

The height of the cladding must not exceed the highest build element of the exhibitor's stand.

The cladding must be approved in accordance with the Stand Plan Submission rules.

The cladding must not be used to create additional storage space or any other additional space.

Any service boxes must remain accessible at all times.

Pillars and walls must not structurally support any loads relating to stand decoration or objects on display.

Shared Pillars and Branding

If there is no agreement between the parties facing the pillar, the pillar must be left as it is and may be clad in a neutral colour by the Organisers.

Where pillars touch a stand boundary, or are located partly on a gangway and partly on one or more stands, only the affected stands may clad the pillar. The affected exhibitors must agree which party may brand each side.

The Organisers reserve the right to refuse pillar-cladding proposals.

In some cases, the Organisers may permit the cladding of pillars located on the gangway in front of stands. Where a pillar is located on a gangway between stands, the stands facing the pillar must agree who may brand it. The affected exhibitors may propose that each party dresses one side, provided that all parties agree in writing.

Fire Equipment and Signage on Pillars and Walls

Many pillars and walls contain fire-safety equipment. Pillars may be clad, but any equipment, hoses, fire extinguishers or panic buttons must remain completely visible and accessible.

The front of any fire equipment must remain accessible.

Where cladding is installed around a fire hydrant fitted with a panic button, an opening must be provided to allow access to the button. The opening must be large enough for a hand to reach the button comfortably and must measure at least 15 × 15 cm. Signage must be provided close to the opening to make the button easy to locate and identify.

An exhibitor may request the removal of fixed signs attached to pillars or walls where they conflict with the stand structure. Only Venue service personnel may remove these signs, and the associated cost will be charged to the exhibitor.

The exhibitor is responsible for replacing any removed signage in the same location, at the same height or as close as possible to the original position, ensuring that it remains visible.

Temporary signage must identify the same elements as the signage removed.

Replacement signage must comply with UNE 23034:1988 in terms of characteristics and size. The replacement sign must be the same size as, or larger than, the original.

The exhibitor is also responsible for providing temporary signage where the stand construction obstructs the view of existing signs.

Signs must be autoluminescent so that they remain visible in the event of a power cut.

Organiser Approval

The Organisers reserve the right to refuse any design, or request amendments to any design, where, in their opinion, it has a detrimental effect on neighbouring exhibitors or the overall appearance of the exhibition.
