Fabric & Decorative Coverings

Fabrics and other decorative materials used for stand dressing must be flame-proofed or purchased pre-treated with an approved chemical.

Suitable material samples must be submitted for approval, or documentary evidence of compliance must be provided.

Materials may be tested on-site to verify compliance.

Untreated wallpaper and similar thin surface finishes not exceeding 1mm in thickness may be accepted, provided that they are firmly fixed using an approved adhesive.

Artificial silk flowers are permitted provided that they have been fireproofed and are either marked accordingly or accompanied by supporting documentation.

Material Standards

Materials must comply with one of the following applicable standards or classifications:

  • British Standards: BS 5438 or BS EN ISO 6940 and BS EN ISO 6941.
  • Spanish M Classification: Class M1.
  • European Standard BS EN 13501: Euroclass A1, A2 or B.
