Plastic Materials

All plastic materials, including plastic plants, trees, floating decorations and materials used for vision panels, must be non-flammable and comply with one of the standards or classifications set out below.

Standards & Classifications

British Standard

Plastic materials must comply with BS 476 Part 7, Class 1.

Plastic plants, trees and similar decorative items must also comply with this standard.

Polycarbonate materials such as Lexan and Macrolon are permitted.

Perspex must not be used.

Spanish M Classification

Plastic materials must comply with Class M0 or M1.

Plastic plants, trees, floating decorations and similar items must also comply with the applicable classification.

Documentary evidence is required.

Perspex must not be used.

European Standard

Under BS EN 13501, the following classifications apply:

  • for M0, read Class A1 or A2; and
  • for M1, read Class A1, A2 or B.

Documentary evidence is required.
