Personal Protective Equipment

Safety helmets (hard hats) and high visibility vests (high-vis vests) and suitable footwear are compulsory in order to gain entry to the venue during build-up and dismantling, except for the Sunday morning before the event opens. Safety helmets and high visibility vests must always be worn by all personnel while in the halls

Exhibitors are responsible for ensuring that the appropriate PPE is always worn by all personnel working for or on behalf of the exhibitor. Exhibitors must ensure that all personnel working for or on behalf of the exhibitor, always cooperate with the organiser and the organiser’s appointed safety staff regarding health and safety. 

  • Safety helmets must be in accordance with UNE-EN 397. A chin strap is required when working at height 

  • High visibility vests must be in accordance with UNE 471. High visibility vests must be ‘day glow’, dark colours are not permitted 

Other PPE: 

  • Safety boots: preferably steel toe cap boots: when handling loads 

  • Gloves: when handling loads 

  • Safety goggles: in activities involving cutting and that otherwise pose a projection hazard 

  • Safety harness: in any task done at a height of more than 2 meters that entails a risk of falling 

  • Any other protective equipment stipulated in the activity's own risk assessment 

This is not an exhaustive list of items. It is the Exhibitors duty of care to assess that the correct type of PPE is applied to a work situation during build up, show days and dismantling. 

GSMA LLC and the DECC are dedicated to providing a safe work environment for all users of the venue. To actively contribute to safety, organisers and contractors are required to observe the following fire safety rules and regulations. All users of the building should understand the potential fire risks and should always eliminate the risks when conducting any activity at DECC. All service providers, contractors and workers are required to observe the fire safety rules and regulations stipulated below to minimise all risks leading to outbreak of fire hazard.  

Smoking is strictly prohibited at MWC Doha, no ashtray or ash container will be provided. Open (naked) flames are prohibited within the DECC and compliance of the following is required: 

All areas within the venue will be compulsory hard hat areas and high visibility reflective vests must be worn during build-up and dismantling. 

 According to the regulation from DECC, every contractor, freight forwarder and exhibitor must wear the helmet on site during move-in and move-out period at the event. In addition, all personnel must wear safety belts when working on construction in height, steel cap shoes when constructing steel structures, safety glasses when cutting or grinding metal will be required and enforced. High visibility clothing is also required for all of the above actives. The security department of DECC reserve the right to refuse entry for non-compliance. 

Soft shoes, pumps, heels of any kind (including trainer heels), wedges and open toe shoes such as sandals and flip-flops – are NOT permitted during build up and dismantling.
