Rules & Regulations

Equipment provided for the purpose of fire-fighting must not be abused, misused, relocated or concealed. 

The operational effectiveness of sprinkler installations must not be compromised. 

Fire alarm call points must not be operated without due cause. 

Fire exit doors must not be obstructed and must remain available for use at all times. 

A passage of at least 1.2 metres (4 ft) wide between any temporary structures and the fire hydrant, equipment room doors and alarm bell contacts must be maintained. 

Exhibitors wishing to cover a portion of their booth for video presentation must submit duplicate drawings to the Organiser for approval. Ceilings can only be constructed of a large mesh or system grid consisting of minimum 1cm x 1cm openings which will permit the passage of water in the event of fire. 

Fire hydrants must not be used as a source of water, except for fighting fire. 

No excess stock and literature or packing cases or other flammable materials may be stored in any unauthorised areas or voids. 

Storage underneath stages and structures is strictly forbidden. 

Please contact the official freight handling agent should you require storage of items outside of DECC. 

Please note that it is not permitted to smoke inside of any part of the DECC Premises. This applies to build-up, show open days and breakdown.  

Obstruction to means of escape. 

Locked or blocked exit doors. 

Wedging of smoke stop doors. 

Combustible decorative material used indoors or along means of escapes. 

Hindrance to, unauthorized alteration or removal of fire fighting equipment such as fire extinguisher, break glass fire alarm, hose reel, etc. 

Use and handling of naked flame. 

Use and handling of paint and thinner when carrying out decoration work. 

During electrical or gas welding process. 

Overloading of electrical outlets or electrical appliances.
