Rules & Regulations

Audio visual equipment of all types has the ability to cause disruptive interference to communications services. To ensure the quality of experience for all exhibitors and attendees, and for general services within the Event, exhibitors are required to eliminate any possible source of interference from within their stand space. 

CE Marking 

The CE marking, formerly the EC mark, is a mandatory conformity requirement for all equipment installed at the Event, including video walls, computers and tablets. 

This mark is a minimum requirement, with part of the certification process intended to reduce the likelihood of disruptive radio frequency interference. However, this standard does not guarantee that a particular item of equipment will not cause harmful interference. This remains the responsibility of the exhibitor. 

In dense environments, such as an Event, even minor issues can have a disproportionately large effect.

Video Walls Larger Than 10 Square Metres 

All exhibitors intending to install a video wall larger than ten square metres must send the following information to mwcbarcelona.internet@firabarcelona.com: 

• the make and model details; 

• the relevant CE certification; and 

• confirmation of whether the video wall will be used permanently or occasionally during the Event. 

Certifications should also be provided for the equipment used to drive the main screen, including video matrices and controllers, as this equipment can also emit signals that may cause interference. 

Checks and Rectification 

The Organisers or their designated representatives may check: 

• that video wall installations have the relevant CE marking; and 

• whether the equipment is radiating in any protected, licensed or requested band and causing detrimental interference to others.

• In all cases, the exhibitor will be required to take immediate action to rectify any interference identified. 

Recommendations to Reduce Interference 

The following measures are recommended: 

• Use superior-quality cables and wiring or installation methods. 

• Shield cables and power sources belonging to any equipment that may cause interference to communications services, such as the power sources of video walls and computers. 

• Do not modify electrical equipment, as this may generate interference and invalidate the CE certification. 

The Organisers reserve the right to measure and evaluate signal emissions from any equipment. If equipment is found to be causing interference, even if it carries a CE mark, the Organisers will require immediate rectification or the shutdown of the source of interference.
