The use of all robotic devices or automated machinery must be approved in advance by the Organisers. Devices will be inspected onsite by the Health & Safety Team. Exhibitors may be asked to provide additional documentation or clarification regarding safety features.

Robotic Devices
This regulation outlines the safety, placement, and operational requirements for showcasing robotic devices or automated machinery at the event. It ensures safe interaction with attendees and compliance with international standards.
Approval and Inspection
Placement and Stand Boundaries
All devices must remain strictly within your stand space. No device can obstruct attendee flow and pose a safety risk. Any device found outside your stand space may be shut down immediately and reported to venue security. Repeated violations may result in suspension of your company’s event passes and/or disconnection of your stand’s power supply, at the discretion of the Event Organiser.
Interactive or Non-interactive?
Human-Interactive Devices
Definition
If your robotic device is designed for direct human interaction, the following conditions apply:
A trained operator must be present at all times. This person must be familiar with the device’s functions, controls and emergency procedures.
Devices must comply with European safety directives and international standards.
A Special Activity Form/Task must be submitted for Organisers to consider approval of this activity, and the activity can only take place with Organiser approval. When completing this form, the following information must be included:
Submission Checklist (via Special Activities Form)
Description of activity and attendee interaction
Stand layout with device location
CE compliance certificate or safety justification
Technical safety documentation (e.g. emergency stop, sensors)
Risk assessment with hazard controls
Note: Devices without CE marking (e.g. prototypes or non-EU equipment) may be accepted if a safety justification is provided (e.g. UL/ANSI certification, internal testing). Organisers may require additional safeguards based on risk.
Non-Interactive Devices
Definition
For robotic devices not designed or certified for safe human interaction (e.g. robotic arms, articulated systems, industrial machinery), the following requirements apply:
Install behind a fixed, strong barrier to create a secure exclusion zone. Ropes and Poles are not allowed. The barrier must be structurally robust enough to prevent attendees from entering the area, and must ensure that no contact can occur between the robot and any attendee while in operation.
A trained operator must monitor the device at all times. This person must be familiar with the robot’s operation and emergency procedures.
A Special Activity Form/Task must be submitted for Organisers to consider approval of this activity. When completing this form, the following information must be included:
