Frequency-Coordination Policy

To ensure availability and fairness of allocation and reduce interference between exhibitors, there are restrictions on requesting frequencies for the Event. Exhibitors should contact the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) of the State of Qatar to discuss any requirements.

It IS necessary to apply for a frequency when using equipment intended for demonstrations that broadcast a radio frequency.

It IS NOT necessary to apply for a frequency when using a commercial SIM card from an operator or for Wi-Fi devices.

Things to have in mind

  • The Communications Regulatory Authority (Previously ictQATAR) issued a Class License for Short Range Devices (SRDs), which specified the frequency ranges and the corresponding output powers allowed to be used for SRDs. Information, including bands, can be found here - Class License for Short Range Devices - Version No. (5)
  • If you need Wi-Fi or use Wi-Fi bands, please refer to the Wireless Policy: 2.4 GHz / 5 GHz section
  • The demonstrations cannot interfere with other licensed telecommunication services
  • Each exhibitor must be in condition to control the emission power of their radio equipment during any time that the spectrum is in use (including build up and validation testing, etc.)
  • Assigned frequencies can be used from Sunday 8 - Tuesday 10 November 2026
  • All the emissions must finish at the end of the Event
